Recipe of the day: Prune Pudding
You'll need:
1/2 pound prunes, roughly 22 prunes
2 cups cold water
1 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 inch piece stick cinnamon
1 1/3 cups boiling water
1/3 cup cornstarch
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1. Pick over and wash prunes, then soak 1 hour in cold water, and boil until soft in same water; or use 1 cup stewed prunes, pitted, and 1/4 cup juice.
2. Obtain meat from stones and add to prunes and juice.
3. Add sugar, salt, cinnamon, boiling water, and simmer 10 minutes.
4. Dilute cornstarch with enough cold water to pour easily, add to prune mixture, and stir constantly while cooking 5 minutes.
5. Remove cinnamon, add lemon juice, and serve with cream.
